Zimbabwe Youth Council welcomes The Declaration of 21 February as a Public Holiday

The Zimbabwe Youth Council welcomes the declaration of 21 February as a National Youth Day in honor of the values and principles stood for by President R.G Mugabe.

Announcing the Youth Day Hon Dr M.I.C Chombo paid tribute to Cde Webster Shamu and the inaugural executive of the Zanu PF Youth League, which was led by Cde Kadungure as Secretary for Youth Affairs and Cde Shamu as the Deputy Secretary for Youth Affairs for birthing the idea of the 21st February Movement and tabling it to the Central Committee of the party as far back as 1986.

He also paid tribute to the present leadership of the Youth league led by Cde K. Chipanga who carried forward the 21st February Movement and elevated the lobbying of the movement to now be institutionalized into a public holiday, the Junior Parliament of Zimbabwe and the Zanu PF congresses that have been pushing for this day.

At the press conference held in Harare today Honourable Dr Ignatius Chombo was accompanied by Honourable Dr Chris Mushohwe, Honourable Dr Joseph Made. Honourable Anastacia Ndhlovu, Honourable Webster Shamu, Cde Xavier Kazizi of the Zanu PF Youth League and Honourable Patrick Zhuwao whose Ministry will be responsible for the new public holiday.
