Youth Feed Zimbabwe Is Calling On All Young People between the ages of 18 and 35 who are interested in Agriculture to Register with The Zimbabwe Youth Council
The agricultural sector remains the backbone of the economy that underpins economic growth, food security and poverty eradication yet continues to experience systemic challenges within its entire value chain, ranging from lack of affordable inputs to lack of agricultural financing. This has been exacerbated by prolonged periods of drought caused by climatic changes. Diminished agricultural production as a consequence of a myriad of socio-economic debilitating circumstances has resulted in the country depending on imports to complement domestic food security and consumptive needs.
This untenable situation requires an equally systemic chain of redress activities and Youth Feed Zimbabwe is one of such activities driven by the Ministry of Youth, Indigenisation and Economic Empowerment and the Zimbabwe Youth Council in concert with Statutory Instrument 64 of 2016 that restricts levels of imports such as cooking oil which will be amongst the first product offshoots in the implementation of Youth Feed Zimbabwe.
In the process, there shall be optimization of young farmer organization for inputs, dissemination of knowledge and creation of augmenting rural institutions benefitting young farmer inputs schemes.
